The thought of going on a road trip alone with a toddler gave me so much anxiety. Besides ensuring I was equipped enough to stay alert and safe was enough to worry about. Making sure we were equipped with all of the essentials she needed was one thing I didn’t want to add to the concern. Before our recent trip, which by the way included two theme parks, I loaded up on travel essentials to make sure we had a fun, memorable, and most importantly, sane trip.
You may be asking, why on earth would you take toddler to an amusement park by yourself! Crazy right? Well, here’s the kicker… I actually signed up to chaperone my oldest daughter’s dance team for competition weekend. So not only was I on the lookout for my very busy four-year old, I was also responsible for the security of 30+ teenagers. I had no idea the theme parks were part of the itinerary when I signed up. By the time I’d realized this, I didn’t have the heart to not take my toddler. Therefore, I bought whatever I could think of to make sure we were prepared for a great trip. Here is a list of what we got:
- If you’re flying (we drove) then this Multi-Carry luggage from MiaMily is perfect! It allows small kids to securely sit on top of the luggage while navigating through the airport. GAME CHANGER! Use code KESH15 for $15 off
- For road trips, this portable potty is perfect for late nights or emergencies on the go!
- Additional disposable potty liners
- Disposable toilet seat covers – these came in handy when we needed to use public restrooms. They are so large, and you don’t have to worry about trying the hold your child over the toilet. Plus, they are individually wrapped to throw in your bag and go! MUST HAVE!!
- Umbrella Stroller – renting strollers at amusement parks can be pricey. I grabbled a lightweight stroller that I was able to use the entire weekend. Check your local Walmart. I found mine for only $17 on rollback!
- Portable Activity Tray – This car seat tray table is perfect to keep kids entertained. It also fits airplane trays and serves as a convenient snack tray.
- Amazon Kindle Fire – The Kindle Fire is loaded with games that don’t require wi-fi which is perfect for keeping little ones engaged on the go!
Of course, you will also want to make sure you have plenty of snacks, sunscreen, toiletries etc. Traveling with toddlers doesn’t have to be stressful if you’re prepared. Leave a comment below if you found this helpful! Also, if you have more travel tips for toddlers, be sure to share!
